The ATLSxA201D is a series of highly efficient electronic modules designed for driving diode lasers with low noise constant current. It has high reliability, zero EMI (Electro- Magnetic Interference), and is assembled in a small DIP package. This series includes the ATLS500mA201D, ATLS1A201D, ATLS2A201D, ATLS3A201DATLS4A201D, and the ATLS6A201D. The output voltage range is from 0V to 4V when powered by a 5V power supply. The evaluation board conveniently designed to operate with this series is the ATLS201DEV1.0, and is perfect for evaluating this series of laser driver modules. Please read the application note for important details.

The evaluation board has a dummy laser formed by a series of regular laser diodes and can be used to emulate how the real laser diode would be driven by the laser driver. The output current and the output current limit can be programmed respectively by the potentiometers mounted on the board. This laser driver evaluation board is of 100 % lead (Pb)-free and RoHS compliant.

The main purpose of using the evaluation board is to drive a voltage configurable and unbreakable dummy laser diode by using the laser driver with a programmable current. The dummy laser is a safety feature on the board and emulates the user’s expensive real laser diode so that in case there is a faulty circuit or an improper operation, the real laser would not be damaged. After making sure the driver works properly and all the features and set-values meet the requirements of the application, the user can disconnect the dummy laser from the driver by flipping a switch and connect a real diode laser onto proper connections of the board. At the same time, the user can set and monitor the output current, monitor the working status of the driver, etc.
