The TEC24V15AEV2.2 provides a complete application circuit for driving and characterising the entire family of high-voltage high-current TEC controllers from Analog Technologies. It is designed for evaluating the TEC28V15A, TEC24V10A, TEC24V15A, TEC24V6A, TEC18V15A, TEC12V9A and TEC9V7A series controllers conveniently on a single board.

Use it to configure the maximum output voltage and current limits (cooling and heating separately), set the set-point temperature range and the set-point temperature value, select between thermistor / RTD / IC temperature-sensor inputs, choose CW or sample-and-hold thermistor modes, and tune the compensation network to match your thermal load characteristics.

It is recommended to read this application note together with the controller datasheet, which provides more detailed information about the specifications and application guidance for each controller.

Description

The TEC24V15AEV2.2 evaluation board is a complete application circuit for driving a TEC controller from Analog Technologies. It can set the output current and the output current limit, has an LED for indicating the working status of the loop, and provides numerous connection pads and terminal connectors for making connections with external components and measurement instruments.

The board exposes every measurement node of the controller (TMS, TMO, IDR, ILM, VLM, ITEC, VTEC, CTMO, 4VR, SBDN, INTL, EN, PCN, LPGD and the bipolar TEC output) so that the system can be tuned, characterised and validated end-to-end before committing to a final PCB. Compensation tuning is the most time-consuming part of a TEC-controller design; this board reduces that effort to swapping a few DIP-switch positions and solder pads.

The TEC24V15AEV2.2 supersedes the earlier TEC28V15AEV1 and TEC28V15AEV2 evaluation boards and unifies their functionality in a single, more flexible board for the entire product family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which TEC controllers does the TEC24V15AEV2.2 evaluation board support?

The TEC24V15AEV2.2 is the universal evaluation board for the high-voltage high-current TEC controller family from Analog Technologies, including the TEC28V15A, TEC24V10A, TEC24V15A, TEC24V6A, TEC18V15A, TEC12V9A and TEC9V7A series. A single board supports the whole family.

Does TEC24V15AEV2.2 replace the older TEC28V15AEV1 and TEC28V15AEV2 boards?

Yes. TEC24V15AEV2.2 supersedes both legacy boards and unifies their functionality. New designs should standardise on TEC24V15AEV2.2; the older boards are kept available for existing customers but are no longer recommended for new projects.

What can I configure on the board?

On-board potentiometers set the set-point temperature, the output current limit (cooling and heating separately) and the output voltage limit. DIP switches plus solder pads tune the compensation network components CD, RD, RI, RP, CI. Additional DIP switches select the temperature-sensor type (thermistor / RTD / IC) and the SBDN operating mode (Shut-Down, Standby, Working). A temperature-good LED indicates whether the constant-temperature loop is locked to the set-point.

Which temperature sensors are supported?

All three commonly used sensor types are supported: thermistor (NTC, 10 kΩ@25 °C default), RTD (Pt100 / Pt1000) and temperature-sensor IC (PTC or NTC type). The thermistor input has two selectable modes: continuous-wave (CW) and pulse / sample-and-hold (S/H) for reduced self-heating error.

How much does the TEC24V15AEV2.2 cost?

TEC24V15AEV2.2 is priced at US$25 for 1–4 PCs and US$22 for 5 PCs or more. Use the Buy Now buttons above for the current stock status and to place an order online.
