AD215ATI Low Distortion Isolation Amplifier — Description

The AD215ATI is a high-speed input isolation amplifier designed to isolate and amplify wide-bandwidth analog signals. Its innovative circuit architecture and transformer design provide excellent wideband dynamic performance while preserving key DC performance specifications.
The AD215ATI offers complete galvanic isolation between the input and output stages, including user-accessible isolated front-end power supplies. Powered by a ±15V DC supply, this functionally complete design eliminates the need for an external isolated DC/DC converter. As a result, designers can minimize circuit overhead while reducing overall system complexity and component costs.
Designed for maximum flexibility and ease of use, the AD215ATI is ideal for applications requiring high-speed analog signal measurement in high common-mode voltage (CMV) environments. It features a ±10V input and output range, selectable gains from 1V/V to 10V/V, a buffered output with offset trim capability, and a user-available isolated front-end power supply that delivers ±15V DC at up to ±10mA.

High-speed dynamic performance

Built-in isolated supply

An unregulated ±15V DC at ±10mA is available at the isolated input port for auxiliary front-end amplifiers, signal conditioning or transducer excitation. No external isolated DC/DC converter, less board area, lower BOM cost.

Flexible input, buffered output

An uncommitted input op amp allows buffering, gain (1V/V to 10V/V) or custom conditioning. The buffered output drives ±10V into 2kΩ (±5mA, 500pF max capacitive load, 1Ω output resistance) and includes an offset trim pin for system calibration.

Complete function from one ±15V supply

A ±15V DC supply (±14.5V to ±16.5V DC rated, ±14.25V to ±17V DC operating) at +30/−30mA runs the whole isolation function — signal path and isolated front end.

Is the AD215ATI a drop-in replacement for the AD215?

Yes. The AD215ATI retains the AD215 SIP pinout and package, so an existing board needs no layout change. Bandwidth, rise time and supply current are all improved relative to the original AD215AY and AD215BY.

What supply does the AD215ATI need?

A dual ±15V DC supply — ±14.5V to ±16.5V DC for rated performance, ±14.25V to ±17V DC operating — drawing +30/−30mA. The isolated front-end rails are generated internally, so no external isolated DC/DC converter is required.
