High Efficiency AC Input 40A 3.5V Laser Driver

AAS40A3.5V2 is an electronic power supply designed for driving 40A laser diode with low noise, as shown in Figure 1. The internal or external POT can set the output current of 0 to 40A by an analog voltage of 0 to 2.5V. By using the digital signal control, the pulse output current can be generated at PCN port and in this case, the LIS port can set the peak output current while the LISL port can set the valley output current.

AAS40A3.5V2 laser driver comes with 2.5V reference voltage with high stability. The reference can be utilized to set the output current and the maximum output voltage. At the same time, it can also be used as the reference voltage of ADC and DAC. ADC and DAC can monitor or set laser current and the maximum output voltage, the so-called constant current output voltage.

This laser driver has high efficiency, more than 76%, saves energy and has low temperature rise.

There is an over temperature protection circuit in the laser driver, in order to prevent the temperature of laser power supply from exceeding temperature limit, 90°C. When over the limit, the driver will shut down automatically, and when falling back to normal temperature range, it will restart automatically. There is also a soft start circuit inside, which can ensure smooth current transactions during power-up periods. Once a short-circuit phenomenon occurs, the output will be cut off by the internal protection circuit.
