Peltier controller TEC5V6A-D is a high efficiency and high stability module in regulating the object temperature that is used for driving peltier modules. According to the functions and features of peltier controller TEC5V6A, we have developed a related product: Temperature Plate Assembly ATTP1A. Temperature plate ATTP1A works together with peltier controller TEC5V6A and peltier controller evaluation board, see Figure 1. Connect the temperature plate ATTP1A and peltier controller via wire connector. It includes TEC module, thermistor and fan and heat sink on the right side of ATTP1A, see Figure 2.

The block diagram of ATTP1A is shown below. The ATTP1A is designed to automatically adjust temperature parameters based on the required temperature range so that the peltier controller can detect a pre-set temperature range. The temperature range can be selected from -20°C to 110°C by adjusting peltier temperature control parameters R1 (W11, W12, R1A), R2 (W21, W22, R2A), and R3 (W31, W32, R3A). R1, R2 and R3 are determined by different temperature ranges, please check the application notes: http://www.analogtechnologies.com/document/ATTP1A.pdf

It is worth noting that the switches S1, S2 and S3 at the bottom right side will be turned off when adjusting the peltier temperature control parameters. When the adjustment is complete, turn the switch back on.

Instructions:

For example, when we want the temperature of the target object to be 20°C, we can choose the temperature range from either 0°C to 30°C or 15°C to 25°C, etc. Here we choose a temperature range from 15°C to 25°C. The first thing we need to do is to calculate the temperature parameters based on the formula and thermistor temperature characteristics table in the application notes, and adjust the corresponding potentiometer. Setting TEMPSET from 0V to 3V will set the temperature range from 15°C to 25°C linearly. Place target object on aluminum object plate. When we adjust the TEMPSET to 1.5V, the corresponding temperature is 20°C. When the voltage of TEMPSET is adjusted to 3V, the corresponding temperature is 25°C. It is worth noting that TEMPSET can be controlled by adjusting W1 on the evaluation board.

So how do you determine if it has reached the target temperature? Use the oscilloscope's probe to measure TEMPSET and TEMPOUT. When the two waveforms overlap completely, it indicates that the preset temperature has been reached. Another method is to measure the TEMPSET and TEMPOUT by voltmeter. When the reading is 0, the temperature reaches the preset temperature. If you want to know more details about using ATTP1A, please see here:
