The sensor precision refers to the reliability of measurement results, and the smaller the error is, the higher the precision is. The accuracy of the sensor is expressed by the percentage of the rate of the maximum basic error and the full range.

For NTC thermistor, two common precision parameters are allowable deviations of temperature and B value: common product precision is gernerally ±0.2℃; integrated temperature sensor precision can be up to ±0.2℃; body temperature sensor precision is generally ±0.1℃.

There are three factors that determine the precision of temperature sensor:

1. Error of thermistor itself

If the resistance deviation and B value deviation are smaller, the measurement precision will be higher.

2. Touch method of sensor temperature head and temperature measurement object

The measurement precision of direct touch is higher than that of indirect touch.

3. Central work temperature point in the work place

As the R-T curve of NTC thermistor is nonlinear, it can not make sure that the precisions in wide working range are the same. Therefore, in order to get a high measurement precison, it is important to select a suitable central work temperature point in the work place. For example, the body temperature sensor generally selects about 37℃ as the central work temperature point.
