Development and application of NTC thermistor

NTC is the abbreviation of negative temperature coefficient, which refers to semiconductor materials of devices with large negative temperature coefficients. NTC thermistor is made of manganese, cobalt, nickel and copper and other metal oxide by ceramic manufacturing process. At the regular temperature, the range of NTC thermistor range is 10~1000000Ω and temperature coefficient is -2%~-6.5%. NTC thermistor has been widely used for temperature measurement, temperature control, temperature compensation, etc.
Development of NTC thermistor has experienced a long period. In 1834, scientist first discovered silver has characteristics of negative temperature coefficient. In 1930, scientists found cuprous oxide also has negative temperature coefficient, which was applied into temperature compensation circuits for aviation instruments. Then, with the continuous development of transistor technology, great progress has been taken in the research of thermal resistor. In 1960, NTC thermistor was developed.
