 Diode laser drivers can be categorized by output stage type: PWM type and linear type. The PWM type laser uses a high efficiency PWM output stage as the power output, which features high efficiency but high ripple noise and low speed. When the current is more than 1A, we recommend a PWM mode laser driver. CWD-01-V2-D is one of the PWM type laser drivers.

CWD-01-V2-D has a 6 sided metal enclosure DIP package with a small volume of 25.4 × 19.9 × 8.8 (mm), which not only saves valuable PCB space, but also prevents interference with other surrounding electronic devices. Because of the PWM output stage of the laser driver CWD-01-V2-D, the efficiency of the driver can be over 90% and no heat sink is required. The power supply voltage is from 3.3V to 5.5V. Its maximum output current is 2A. The output current can be set linearly by 2.5VR and monitored at the same time by LIO.

The internal block diagram shows that the laser driver provides these the functions: Laser current set,laser current output indication, laser current monitoring, laser diode status indication, laser diode status indication, over temperature and thermal protection, 2.5V reference voltage, soft start and shut down.
