ATLS3A212 is a high voltage constant current laser driver. It can drive multiple laser diodes with high efficiency and low noise. It is powered by a wide DC voltage between 4.5V to 15V, the wide output voltage is from 0.8V to 0.9VVPS and the output current can go up to 3A without using a heat sink. Both DIP and SMT packages are available. It has a compact size of only 25.4×20×5 (mm).

Here is an internal block diagram of ATLS3A212:

The internal block diagram shows that the laser driver provides these the functions:

Standby Control: The voltage of SBDN pin is between 2.1V and 2.4V, and it puts the laser driver into Standby Mode. Shutdown Control: The voltage of SBDN pin is between 0V and 0.4V, and it shuts down the laser driver. Laser current setting: The laser driver ATLS3A212 allows setting the output current by different pin LISH and LISL. Laser current monitoring: The output current of the driver can be monitored by measuring the voltage on the LIO pin. Over temperature protection: If the temperature of laser driver exceeds the preset limit (120°C), the driver will be shut down by itself to prevent the driver from being damaged by overheating. Loop good indication: Its purpose is to determine if the laser driver is working properly. Soft start: Achieve low noise, high efficiency, and relatively high modulation speed.

We have specially designed the evaluation board and load assembly for evaluating the laser driver better. It’s very convenient that the laser driver ATLS3A212 collocates with the evaluation board ATLS212EV1.0 and load assembly ATLS212DLD1.0.
