Thermistor is a type of sensitive components, which can be divided into positive temperature coefficient thermistor (PTC) and negative temperature coefficient thermistor (NTC) according to different temperature coefficient. Thermistors are typically temperature sensitive and exhibit different resistance values at different temperatures. For positive temperature coefficient thermistor, the higher the temperature, the greater the resistance. For negative temperature coefficient thermistor, the higher the temperature, the lower the resistance.

The main features of the thermistor are:

1. High sensitivity, the resistance temperature coefficient is 10 ~ 100 times greater than metal;

2. Wide operating temperature range;

3. Small size, it can measure the temperature of voids that other thermometers can’t measure;

4. Easy to use, the resistance value can be chosen between 0.1 ~ 100kΩ;

5. Good stability, strong overload.

These are the main specifications to be considered when choosing a ntc thermistor as a temperature control system: operating temperature range, sensitivity, drift, size, mounting method, etc. Our thermistor and thermistor components are primarily ntc thermistors and can be used with our TEC controller and TEC modules for building high stability, low drift temperature control systems. These ntc thermistors and thermistor assemblies have high precision (+/-0.25°C@25°C), compact size, and are coated with glass material on all the bare thermistors and ntc thermistor of which the thermistor assemblies are made, resulting in low short and long term drift. The ntc thermistors come in bare and lugged forms, the former is for point sensing to achieve high accuracy for specific points, such as laser diode die, etc.; the latter is for bulk temperature sensing, such as optical components, etc.
