NTC is short for Negative temperature coefficient, which refers to semiconductor or components with high negative temperature coefficient. Therefore, the so-called NTC thermistor is the thermistor with high negative coefficient temperature.

NTC thermistor is made up of metallic oxides, such as manganese, cobalt, and copper, and made by using ceramic technology. These metallic oxide materials have semiconductor property, since they are similar to the semiconductors such as germanium and silicon, in electric conducting modes. When the temperature is low, the quantity of charge carriers of metallic oxides is not high, so the resistance of the material is high; when the temperature rises, the carrier quantity increases, so the resistance becomes low. The resistance of NTC thermistor changes between 100 and 100,000 ohm with the temperature coefficient of -2%~-6.5%. NTC thermistors can be widely used in temperature measurement, temperature compensation, surge current suppression, temperature control, etc.

NTC thermistor can work with our TEC controller, TEC module and heat sink in order to build a highly stable and accurate temperature measurement and control system.
