The working voltage and current of TEC can be regulated. In the actual working conditions, its cooling capacity, input power and refrigeration coefficient also change with the working voltage and current. According to the current change, the following is about the analysis of cooling capacity and refrigeration coefficient.

When a TEC is short circuit and input power W is zero, the current is not zero, defined as Ish:

Similarly, when a TEC is open and the cooling capacity qc is zero, the current I is nonzero, defined as Ii:

From (3), it is shown that there exists a working current making the cooling capacity maximum, which is called optimum operating current. At the same time, there are also two currents, which can make TEC reach thermal equilibrium(qc =0) and respectively definethe maximum cooling capacity, optimum operating current, and heat balance.

As shown in (13), with time going by, the temperature difference (Th -Tc ) and the maximum cooling capacity qc,max of the cold end will both gradually increase. When the heat of Peltier, Joule and Fourier are in a state of balance (qc,max =0), TEC will reach the maximum temperature difference △Tmax:

The left characteristic analysis ofTEC refrigeration cyclewill be introduced in the next article.
