A Glass Encapsulated Thermistor

NTC is the abbreviation of Negative Temperature Coefficient, which refers to semiconductor materials or electronic components. A glass encapsulated thermistor is a kind of NTC thermistors, which has the function of temperature compensation. And its main characteristics are high temperature resistance and humidity resistance.

The glass encapsulated thermistors are mainly used for high stability and low drift temperature control of TEC. There is a glass coating in the outside of the thermistors to make it have low drift. There are two types: one is bare, another one is with annular jacket. Next I will introduce one kind of thermistor with annular jacket packaged.

ATH100KR25 is a kind of high precision glass sealed thermistor. Comparing with a conventional epoxy encapsulated thermistor, it can provide more long-term stability and wider temperature range. What’s more, it has the characteristics of small volume and shortresponse time. This thermistor can be used to measure the temperature of laser diodes and optical elements with high-precision and long-term stability.  When under the temperature of 25°C, its resistance is 100K.
