How to improve the processing performance of thermoelectric cooler

Thermoelectric cooler (TEC) has two functions: heating and cooling, depending on the direction of input current. It has been widely used in medical, industry, military and some other fields needing to be cooled.

1. Reducing the thickness of the thermal insulating layer
The main method to reduce heat transfer temperature is to decrease the thickness of the thermal insulating layer. Take 12704 type thermopile made of alumina ceramics as an example. If its thickness is reduced from 0.8mm to 0.5mm, its resistance will be decreased by 37%, the cold side temperature difference can drop 0.8°C at most, and the hot side temperature difference can drop 4°C at most. At the same time, the cooling deformation of the electric insulation heat conduction layer and weld resistance can also be reduced

2. Checking the resistance value of elements
A large contact resistance can be formed on the inclined element end, and component internal defect can change the resistance value of the element. Before soldering, the element resistance can be measured by using contact electrode, if there is abnormal element, it will be removed, which can not only reduce the contact resistance, but also improve the consistency of the performance parameters. Therefore, the optimal value and the consistency of thermopile performance can be improved.
